BHARAT RATNA PANDIT BHIMSEN JOSHI

104th Birthday Anniversary Tribute Offering

Post from Sony Music India Classical πŸ‘‰ https://youtu.be/kH3wy-KWBjs On Pandit Bhimsen Joshi’s birth anniversary, we celebrate a voice that still moves generations. ✨

Watching Ustad Amjad Ali Khan Ji shape the early discipline of Ayaan Ali Bangash Ji and Amaan Ali Bangash Ji is a reminder that mastery isn’t inherited β€” it’s drilled, corrected, and earned. 🎢πŸ”₯
A quiet moment, but packed with the kind of rigor that actually builds greatness.

Ustad Rashid Khan ~ A Navras Tribute 09/01/2026

USTAD RASHID KHAN

Today we mark the second anniversary of the passing of this legend of his generation who we lost so prematurely.

We share the tribute video compiled on that fateful day two years back.

RIP Rashidbhai. You are greatly missed!

USTAD RASHID KHAN (1968 ~ 2024) ~ A TRIBUTE

Today, 9th Jan 2024, the world of Indian classical music lost one of its finest vocalists at a young age of 55. Ustad Rashid Khan was a child prodigy who delivered his debut concert at the age of 11. Born in Badayun, in Uttar Pradesh, he received his initial training from his maternal grand uncle, Ustad Nissar Hussain Khan (1909~1993), doyen of the Sahaswan-Rampur Gharana, transitioning to the ITC Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata at the age of 14, where he became a part of the academy. He was a nephew of the renowned vocalist Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan who first recognised his musical talents.

Rashid Khan's association with Navras Records and Sama Arts began some three decades back and over the years he provided us with some of his outstanding performance recordings of which he was especially proud. Further performances were recorded from his UK concert tours with Navras and Sama Arts over the years.

Rashid Khan has featured prominently on the Navras Records Catalogue where he had 11 titles including a jugalbandi with the sitar maestro Ustad Shahid Parvez. Some further unreleased performances are in the Navras Archives now with Sony Music India.

As a tribute to his amazing prowess and repertoire we share with you here a medley of bandishes (compositions) from a selection of his Navras titles, featuring Ragas Deshkar, Gaud Sarang, Marwa, Kedar, Shahana and Bhoopali. This is a slightly long 21 minute clip but we make no apologies for that as we wish to do justice to and provide a flavour of his extensive repertoire.

Ustad Rashid Khan was proclaimed by none other than the legendary vocalist Pandit Bhimsen Joshi who said he was reassured that the future of vocal music was in good hands in Rashid Khan. Sadly the almighty has so willed to take him away from us at a very premature age. A rare and a unique vocalist has passed but has left a rich legacy through his large collection of audio recordings and video performances.

May he Rest in Peace!
