Knee pain isn’t always a sign that you need to stop training.

With marathon season, HYROX events and half marathons in full swing, we’re seeing more and more people struggling with niggling knee pain.

Often, the issue isn’t actually the knee itself. Weakness or reduced control through the hips, glutes, calves and ankles can increase the load going through the knee during running, jumping and training.

Here, FIX physiotherapist Nick shares two simple exercises he regularly uses to help improve lower limb strength and stability:

✔️ Wall Press - to activate the glutes and improve hip stability
✔️ Single Leg Calf Raise - to build calf strength and support better movement through the ankle and knee

If knee pain is starting to impact your training, don’t just push through it. Identifying the cause early can help you stay active and prevent a small issue becoming a bigger one.
