Richard Price and America’s Revolution: evening talk with Sir Roly Keating — New Unity 15/05/2026

Join Roly Keating, former Chief Executive of the British Library and Controller of BBC Two and Four, on 25th June for an evening talk.

In the run-up to the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence, this event offers a chance to bring our early Minister Richard Price’s distinctive voice and ideas back to life, and to reflect on their relevance to contemporary and still-urgent debates about freedom, rights and society, including in America itself.

Roly has lived since 2023 in the house on Newington Green which was home to Richard Price himself from 1758 to 1787.

Richard Price and America’s Revolution: evening talk with Sir Roly Keating — New Unity Join Sir Roly Keating for this talk on philosopher, mathematician, scientist, non-conformist preacher and political radical Richard Price.

Reminder of this Saturday's "Serving with Grace" workshop (16th May, 10.30am, NGMH)

Based on the book by Rev Erik Wikstrom, this workshop will explore what he describes as 'lay leadership as a spiritual practice.'

We will look at his transformative vision of volunteering with a congregation as a growth opportunity rather than an obligation, examining how committee work and volunteer service can nurture personal development through self-awareness, compassion, and collaboration.

Participants will discover practical strategies for reframing lay leadership—from board service to event planning.

Feel free to join for lunch afterwords for informal discussion; either bring something or pick up something.
