A tilt sensor, or tilt switch, is a device used for measuring the tilt of an object in multiple axes with reference to an absolute level plane.

All inclinometers and tilt sensors measure a change in the effect of gravitational field on a mass to derive angle. As the inclinometer sensor is rotated, the sensing element is subject to gravitational forces which move the proof mass.
