28th Scouts Sleep Out for the Homeless.
Scouts like nothing better than a camp out. But the Scouts at the 28th Braid do it a bit differently and, in doing so raised £2,850 for the Bethany Christian Care Trust. Well done.
Forgoing tents for cardboard boxes, on a cold and windy night March night they slept rough outside in the garden of their meeting place, Newington Trinity Parish Church. The 28th Scouts have a history of raising funds for Bethany Christian Care Trust to help in their work with homeless people and set out this year to raise at least £2,000 in sponsorship. Scouts promise to help other people and the 28th Scouts have certainly demonstrated Scouting values at its best whilst having an adventure at home.

and lastly, absolute pleasure to be able to present Alison Hill, 44th Group Lead Volunteer with her Silver Acorn. This recognises Alison's distinguished service to Scouting given over a period of not less than 20 years, not only at the 44th but also previously at the 25th Braid. 3/3

Also a pleasure to present Andy Ballantine, 44th Scout Troop Team Member with a Commendation Award. This recognises Andy's "good turn' when he volunteered to give up a weekend supporting another Group's weekend camp, replacing a Leader who was unable to take part. In doing so the young people of that Group were able to have an amazing weekend at Scout Adventures Lochgoilhead. By unselfishly helping others, Andy's commitment is worthy of a Commendation. 2/3
