It's ! ππ This month, join us to learn more about the world under the waves, with a presenter-led show in our Planetarium and a unique Meet the Scientist session for schools!
Get involved in our Science Centre:
π As part of our immersive galleries, explore our Discover the Deep exhibit where you can find out more about Scotland's role in deep-sea discovery and take part in hands-on activities exploring life under the waves.
π Enjoy our presenter-led Planetarium show 'Under Pressure', showing daily throughout June, where we're taking a deep dive into the global ocean to explore hidden ecosystems and the work of dedicated marine scientists. We'll also take a moment to ponder on our ability to shape the future of the ocean.
Get involved as a School:
π Calling all teachers! π£ Tomorrow, 9th June, your class can take part in our free, online 'Meet the Scientist' session about ocean science! We'll be joined by Environmental Anthropologist Dr Inna Yaneva-Toraman to talk about ocean pollution and the impact this has on the environment. This session is only for schools, find out more on our website.

π£ New Planetarium show alert! π£ From 1st June, in 'What's Up: Summer Skies' weβll go stargazing in the summer sky, and take a look at the incredible Artemis II mission! β
π Edinburgh sits so far north β 56 degrees north of the equator β that our summer skies never get fully dark. There is always a little bit of sunlight spilling up over the horizon which means that stargazing in Scotland in summer isβ¦ really not that great! But, in the Planetarium, we can sidestep nature. Weβll delete the Sun (temporarily!) so we will be able to stargaze in perfect darkness: spotting stars, planets and perhaps a galaxy or two!
π Plus β weβll be delving into the incredible Artemis II mission which took four astronauts further into space than any other human, around the moon and back home again. We will take a look at some of our favourite moments from their mission and, of course, some of the amazing photographs they took along the way.
π Showing daily from 1st June β 30th August.
