It's been just over a month on the road for the Mongol Rally 2025. Most of this now rather dusty gaggle are scattered across Central Asia. They have a week and a half left to get themselves to the Finish Line, ideally with as many detours as they can muster.

Team Swiss Masters are seen here at Peak Lenin in Tajikistan, Team Spandex captured the serene nature of a night on the Wakhan Corridor and Team Happy Hour Discovery Coalition discovered that a small child on a horse is obviously "better than paper maps on the Pamir Highway." We agree maps are overrated if you're trying to have a proper adventure.

Breakdowns and undercarriage woes continue on relentlessly as the roads and non-roads of Central Asia take their toll. Team Derelicts stopped for another set of repairs in Aral, Team FireTire - always the innovators - adapted their air filtration system yet again and Team OK Georgie! has been busy getting to see Turkmenistan from the back of a rescue truck. It's not all gloom however - Happy Hour Discovery Coalition's oil pan is captured here looking perfectly happy, despite the pounding.

Meanwhile, the first 2 finishers - Team Ossobuco Overdrive of Italy and Team Xenus Technology Limited of Hong Kong - have crossed the Finish Line at the Pink Palace in Oeskemen. Team 2 and a Half Geezers drove straight past the Finish Line and headed to Mongolia. Long the holy grail of the Mongol Rally, it's a tricky place for ralliers to get to these days. However, these chaps have contrived it, and are rather delighted with their escapades.

Three weeks and two days on the road for the Mongol Ralliers of 2025. Apart from getting increasingly smelly, they’ve been busy negotiating borders, shipping their tiny steeds across the Caspian Sea and navigating the wilds of Central Asia.

Kazakhstan brings desert roads, river roads and non roads, captured here by Team Steppe by Steppe - Micras to Mongolia on the way to the Bekdash border with Turkmenistan and by Team Ossobuco Overdrive as they casually drive through a river. Team Not Standard Issue have given up on any kind of road whatsoever.

Sustained exposure to the non-paved variety of road for a mini-steed can result in things falling off, like your entire roof rack as demonstrated by Team Dovetomore; or your bumper, like Team Mooie Dingen. Thankfully, these aren’t essential car parts anyway, and their loss need not impede one’s adventure.

Once in Tajikistan,Team Ossobuco Overdrive proved that size really doesn’t matter as they compared washers with a truck driver on the Pamir Highway. This rugged expressway boasts the position of second highest international highway in the world, stretching 1200 kms from Tajikistan to Kyrgyzstan, a perfect high altitude ascent for a slightly underpowered Toyota Yaris.

Meanwhile, Team Windmill Warriors captured the slightly less exciting escapade of shipping your car when not allowed to drive it across the border yourself, currently the case to get into Azerbaijan in order to cross the Caspian Sea. A mere closed border does not deter the Ralliers from their objective. Nor it seems, does having your number plates stolen in Iran, as encountered by Team Kegland.

A final thanks to Team Gremlin Friends for showing us what life “post volcano tire change” looks like. Quite the glamorous look we think.

Another week on the road for the Mongol Rally 2025. Ralliers are now scattered across a large chunk of the globe with most teams clustered in Georgia and Azerbaijan preparing to cross the Caspian Sea.

As the roads get less roady, the rallier's tiny sh*tboxes are rising to the challenge. Team Arfly Racing Team - Cyberpandino's Fiat Panda is seen here gracefully tackling the Dark Canyon in Turkey, whilst Team No Half Sends and Team Svalbard prove that even the underpowered can reach the summit of the formidable D915. Meanwhile, Team Guus en Luka's Citroën Escapade dealt somewhat less gracefully with the actual escapade of trying to drive over salt flats, a job that Team Praise the Immortal Honda's 124cc Honda CBF125 took in its ballerina-like stride.

Also in Turkey, Team Who Let the Dutch Out? showcase the natural pairing of Capadoccia's balloons and a Mongol Rally car.

In Kazakhstan, Team The Islanders are ensuring their Fiat Uno doesn't have to demean itself by using tarmac, focusing instead on railway lines and sand as they head south to Turkmenistan. Team Happy Hour Discovery Coalition took a more northerly route, heading north of Aktau to park their steed in the desert.

And in Samarkand, Team Ossobuco Overdrive - Pasta la vista, baby! have uncovered a trove of ancient stickers hand-stuck onto a wall by Mongol Ralliers of old.

A final mention to Team Sh*tstack Shamans, who are still in Hungary, cutting a fine strolling pace at the rear and upholding their position of furthest away from the Finish Line. We commend your slow.
