Alex (Chalky) Chalk MA - HASP Instructor
An experienced travel safety & security Instructor for HASP Training. Alex has delivered HEAT courses on multiple occasions both in the classroom and out conductting scenarios for trainees in order to develop their skills, knowledge and confidence. He has travelled extensively across the globe including Iraq, Afghanistan, China, Russia, across South America, the Middle East and the African continent to name but a few. Unfortunately he never made it to Timbuktu!
Having spent just under 30 years in the British Military he has a wealth of experience and is a graduate from the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst attaining the rank of Captain in the Infantry. He is Defence Train the Trainer qualified and has taught both potential officers and soldiers alike. He recently worked on the MODs response to the Covid-19 pandemic as a planner and Operational Staff Work scriber which saw him write orders to support various civilian organisations over the pandemic.
He is qualified and well versed in control and restraint as well as de-escalation theory. Alex holds an MA in Psychology from the University of Aberdeen. In his spare time (when there is any) he enjoys gardening, fly fishing, reading and spending time with his family.

An experienced travel safety & security instructor and founder of HASP Training. Rupert has delivered HEAT courses to numerous global corporate businesses, international aid organisations and media teams.
Rupert has spent over 30 years in the British military and deployed on operations worldwide. He incorporates the lessons learned from his vast travel experiences into his intuitive and engaging training courses. Rupert writes articles for the security industry and has published a number of books including “Travelling Safely Overseas”. Between courses and writing, Rupert tries to find time to update the HASP blog with relevant content relating to hostile environment awareness training. Rupert is currently embarking on a period of study to update his skills. Having gained his ASIS accredited CPP (Certified Protection Professional) in July 2018 he now has the PSP (Physical Protection Professional) qualification in his sights.
An interesting article about the dangers of taking a ride hailing app when you're abroad. I've been told by a couple of clients that their Uber driver has been blocked from picking them up by disgruntled taxis at the rank, but never murdered and petrol bombed.
