Between January and March 2026, the Prebend Centre supported people with 194 showers and 80 laundry loads.
Access to a shower and clean clothes can have a huge impact on someone’s health, confidence and dignity.
For people who are rough sleeping, sofa surfing or living in unstable accommodation, these basic facilities are essential. This is the kind of practical support that helps people feel human, seen and ready to take the next step.
07/07/2026
Across January, February and March 2026, the Prebend Centre had 1,996 visits.
Every visit represents someone coming through our doors for warmth, food, practical help, advice, healthcare access, safety, or simply a place where they are treated with dignity.
For people facing homelessness, poverty or crisis, having one trusted place to turn to can make a real difference.
Thank you to everyone who helps keep the Prebend Centre open and available for people who need us.

Disability Pride Month starts this week.
Disability Pride Month began in Boston, USA, in 1990, the same year the Americans with Disabilities Act was passed. Since then, it has grown into a global movement.
It is a time to recognise disabled people’s experiences, rights, resilience and achievements. It is also a reminder that society still places too many barriers in the way of people who need support.
Homelessness and disability are closely connected. Many people experiencing homelessness are also living with physical health conditions, mental health challenges, learning disabilities, long-term illness or trauma.
For someone without a safe place, managing health, appointments, medication, mobility, benefits, paperwork and daily routines can become even harder.
At SMART, we see the whole person. We know homelessness is not just about housing. It is connected to health, poverty, trauma, isolation, accessibility and whether people can get the right support at the right time.
This Disability Pride Month, we stand for dignity, inclusion and support that meets people where they are.
Everyone deserves safety, respect and a place to call home.
