TOPIC: MAKE A DIFFERENCE (PT.4a)
SUB-TOPIC: MIND YOUR MINDSET
BIBLE TEXT: LK.6v43-45
43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
It is true that we must see and speak correctly for there to be any difference as we go through the journey of life as emphasised since the beginning of this teaching series. Brethren, it is important however to state that the worth of our declaration is only a reflection of the state of our hearts.
The difference does not start or end with what we say but starts in our hearts. The state of our lives is dependent on the state of our hearts. This is why the bible says as a man thinks in his heart so is he (Pr.23v7). According to Rm.12v2 it is impossible to make a difference (be transformed) by proving what is acceptable and perfect will of God without working on the mind as the verse says as follows:
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Brethren we realize from the book of Ps.45v1 that we cannot declare some level of difference making statements without it overflowing from our hearts. There, the bible says as follows:
My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
From the bible text and also from Lk.8v15, we see that declarations notwithstanding, the richness of our hearts determines the treasure or harvest that can flow through it into our lives and for others. The cycle of change be it good or evil starts with the heart as the bible says in Dan.4v16 which says as follows:
Let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him.
It is essential that we keep our hearts with all diligence (Deut.4v9) because God who has commanded us to make difference only relates to us on the basis of our hearts and not our face. Hence the bible says in 1Sam.16v7 as follows:
But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
God answers prayer but we know by the encounter of Hannah in 1Sam.1v13 that He answers not really based on the communication made essentially with the mouths alone but principally the communication made with the heart. Samuel was a product of an intense prayer-battle fought with the heart and not the mouth-1Sam.1v27. God in considering what we ask, also looks at the content of the uncommunicated content of our hearts. This explains why Eph.3v20 says as follows:
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.
Our relationship with God is contingent upon the state of our hearts and not the demonstrations of our hand or the grandiloquence of our mouth as the bible says in Mt.15v8 as follows:
This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

SUB-TOPIC: WORDS: BEHIND THE SCENES
BIBLE TEXT: LK.8v8-11
8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?
10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
In the course of this series on Make a Difference, we have emphasised the need to see from the perspective of God and thus we would be seeing what God is showing and that is a massive difference maker. We have also been stressing the need to speak correctly in order to make that difference. The bible makes us understand that when we do not speak the right words, it is a sign of light deficiency. The book of Is.8v20 says as follows:
To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
Why is our confession very important?
1. Lk.8v11-Seed
Brethren, as seedtime and harvest are an unending circle in the journey of life (Gen.8v22), so is our word producing the circle we often find ourselves. Words spoken are seed planted with inherent ability to produce harvest. Mind you, you can only reap the fruit of the seed you sowed (Job 4v8). Jacob sowed the seed of death of Racheal (Gen.31v32). That is why Jesus warned against careless (idle) words in Mt.12v36. As every sown seed is sure to grow all things being equal, the same divine force guarantees the establishment of whatever we say (Job 22v28).
2. Num.14v28-God Attends to it
No doubt God is able to do more than we can ever think or pray for (Eph.3v20) but the point is it must be said for God to act. The woman with the issue of blood said (within herself which means saying it to herself) that she would be healed (Mt.9v21). The children of Israel said they would die and God said He was bound by what man says on earth (Num.14v28 & Mt.16v19).
3. Jn.6v63-Spirit and life.
God in whose image and likeness we are created is Spirit (Jn.4v24 & Gen.1v26). It is without controversy that the best way to know God is by checking His words which detail His nature and ways among others (Pr.2v1&5). We must also remember that God is also the word and the Word is God (Jn.1v1). The effect of our declarations is injection of life and spirit to dead things (Ez.37v1-10) and introduction of God (Word) to every issue we address.
4. Jn.1v1-5-Word is light
The cure for darkness is not prayer but light which is the word of God. Declaring the word is what terminates darkness. Despite darkness covering the earth and gross darkness the people, glory was still seen in the man that rose to embrace the power of light (Is.60v1-3).
5. Ecc.5v6-Angels enforce them
As heirs of salvation, we are blessed with the ministry of angels to attend to our confessions. They are waiters ready to take orders and get them delivered at all cost.
