One of the major issues I see when I start working on some raised bed is that the wood is often in direct contact with the soil.
Causing problems such as warping the wood, rotting and (as time goes on) allowing the roots of the shrubs/ trees to establish into the wood itself; thus, considerably reducing the lifespan of the bed.
Lining the beds is a good way to prevent the wood from absorbing humidity and keep it dry and healthy for longer.
