Proverbs 18:21(KJV)

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

1. Your words have power.
The “tongue” represents what you say. The verse is saying your words can either bring life (good, healing, encouragement) or death (hurt, destruction, negativity).

2. What you say affects you and others.
Your words can lift people up, inspire them, comfort them — or they can break them down, cause problems, and create conflict.

3. You will experience the results of what you speak.
“Eat the fruit” means you’ll live with the consequences of your words.
If you speak positivity, wisdom, kindness → you create good outcomes.
If you speak negativity, lies, gossip, insults → you create harmful outcomes.

Why it matters spiritually?

Biblically, God created the world with words — showing that speech carries creative power. As image-bearers of God, we also carry a small reflection of that power through what we speak.

Sometimes we ask God for forgiveness while forgetting the people we’ve hurt right in front of us. 💛 Before we look up, let’s look around. Say sorry. Make peace. Love one another deeply — that’s what truly reflects God’s heart.

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.” — James 5:16
