Call for Prayer and Support
Dear Ethiopians, brothers, sisters………This is an urgent call for prayer and support! I am sure most of you might have heard or even passed by, at least once by the narrow road behind TK building, from NOC gas-station to Bras Hospital. That small area has become a convenient hub for young teenagers who consume alcohol and smoke all sorts of drugs from cigarette to w**d .T
he place is off the main road of Bole ,the insides of the restaurants are darker and dimmer making it very hard to identify any one who is that place. Not only that, the area has become famous for prostitution. We are sure all of you have seen the young and beautiful women who stand by that street as early as 8pm. This is not a new problem in Addis Ababa City and maybe not the first initiative to intervene but we can no longer sit back and see as the devil and the world steal our young people right in front of our eyes. Do you have teenage brothers or sisters? Are you parents of teenagers? Has God called you to minster to the youth? Are you an Ethiopian who believes that the youth are important for the change we want in this country? Then this call is for you. We have several teams you can be part of: All starts this Saturday, June 30,2012. The legal intervention team: Will be looking for ways to implement laws on the bars and restaurants that sell alcohol drinks to under-aged kids. The outreach team: Will go out on the streets and talk and challenge the young kids about what they are doing. Give health information on alcohol consumption, drug abuse including smoking, teenage pregnancy etc
Give address (emails and phone numbers) for those who need counselling. The prayer team:will be praying while the outreach team is outside carrying the above tasks
The Social help mobilization team: This is not only a concern for Christians but all for the whole society. What is happening out there is a symptom of problems arising in families, schools, churches etc. We need social awakening! Media:Will bring attention to this issue. Write articles to newspapers, inform radio stations etc. Parents and teachers:Inform them that about such issues, help them challenge their kids and support them through rehabilitation. Counseling:giving advice and emotional support for kids with additions and emotional problems. The plan is simple:
The prayer and outreach team will meet three days a week from 7pm-12pm midnight. The prayer team will be praying during that time and the outreach team will go on the streets. Suitable rest area will be provided since the program is till midnight. How to get involved?
