We are at a turning point in the survival of species on our planet.

In just 50 years, humanity has wiped out 68% of global wildlife populations and many species, such as the northern white rhinos, are in real trouble.

⚠️ However, we wish to clarify a few things ⚠️:

🦏 Northern white rhinos were declared FUNCTIONALLY extinct in 2018 when the last male in existence died. His name was Sudan and he died of old age.

🦏 FUNCTIONALLY extinct means that the number of animals is so small that they no longer play a significant role in ecosystem function; or that the population is no longer viable.

🦏 Sudan was NOT the last northern white rhino alive. He left behind his daughter Najin and her daughter Fatu, both who are still very much alive today. Najin is 31 years old, and Fatu turns 21 this month. They both live on Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya and they are in good health and are enjoying green grass and carrots on a daily basis.

🦏 There is an incredible group of scientists and conservationists who have been working on assisted methods of reproduction (IVF) to revive the species. As of today, there are nine pure northern white rhino embryos that have been created. We are hopeful that one, or more, or these embryos will become a northern white rhino baby.

Attention! The countdown begins 🌏

On June 5 we celebrated World Environment Day and, according to the UN, we have 10 years ahead of us to restore and reverse the loss of nature, a vital challenge to conserve biodiversity and ensure our health and future.

Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, we have transformed three-quarters of the earth's surface, caused the loss of more than 85% of wetlands and polluted most of the coasts, seas and oceans. We have produced a planetary change of such dimensions that, considering the growth of the world population, conserving what we have left will no longer be enough to survive.

It is urgent to heal the wounds of the planet with an ecological restoration that is much more than planting trees or collecting waste. We must help nature to regenerate itself in an integral way, recovering healthy ecosystems that harbor biodiversity and return to offer vital resources and services for society.

The stakes are high and we are losing too much. Every minute an area of forest equivalent to 20 football fields is destroyed and, if the trend is not reversed, in the next 30 years we will lose 90% of the coral reefs, which would mean a terrible catastrophe and the ruin and death of millions of people.

Your help is vital to heal the planet
