You may have heard of Salesforce. It’s the market-leading CRM platform used by more than 150,000 companies including the likes of Walmart, NASA, and Amazon but also many less famous organizations.
We’ve had a limited Salesforce integration for a while already, and several of our customers are using it to connect lead forms to Salesforce.
We’re pretty excited to release our most popular feature for Salesforce customers. You can now use Outfunnel to deeply connect your Salesforce account with several popular marketing automation tools like Intuit Mailchimp, Klaviyo, and ActiveCampaign.
The integration lets you sync email engagement to Salesforce contacts records as Activities. This way team members have context on which leads have been engaging with marketing emails and are potentially more interested in hearing from sales.
Next up: the ability to make all Salesforce leads/contacts or a subset(s) available on your preferred marketing automation (or vice versa) platform along with your custom lead/contact and account fields and keep them in sync going forward.
Welcome to the world of effortless data syncing between sales and marketing apps, Salesforce customers!

Every B2B company needs to generate leads. And in our current economic climate leads must be generated cost-efficiently. Smart marketers know the ROI of each of their marketing channels and allocate their budget accordingly.
Overall, we’re happy with how we’ve defined our lead sources and with how we’re able to “triangulate” data points to see how the effectiveness of our marketing mix is changing.
But we were wondering whether we’re still losing some of the nuances of tracking lead sources, so about a year ago, we started asking, “How did you hear about us?” in the signup flow.
We recently analyzed this self-reported attribution (or SRA) data and found some interesting things.
- Advertising appears twice the size in self-reported attribution. One of the conclusions for this is that some people discover us via paid ads but sign up in a way that loses tracking codes (for example, researching on a phone and signing up on their computer), so our real cost-per-acquisition (CPA) from ads is lower than it seems based on captured source data.
- Content/search shows approx. 1,6x bigger in the self-reported source data set, and I’m guessing for similar reasons than advertising.
- Referring sites similarly show twice bigger as the self-reported source, and there the difference may be explained by the above as well as the fact that not all mentions are hyperlinked.
- Finally, the self-reported bucket of “word-of-mouth”+ “don’t remember” is roughly 2X smaller than signups that are classified as “direct”.
Long story short, capturing lead sources is a must. And Outfunnel can do this very easily for you :)

Which should you use as a CRM: Pipedrive or HubSpot? This is a question we get quite frequently from businesses that are trying both (as well as Outfunnel) in parallel.
This isn’t a straightforward question to answer though because both are good products. The answer depends on what type of company is going to use them and what you’re trying to achieve.
Our co-founder Markus recently shared his 2 cents on the topic.
Pipedrive vs HubSpot: which CRM should you choose? This post covers our experience with using Pipedrive and HubSpot and recommends which of the two works best for certain types of companies and use cases.
