“Can you hear me, Thays?”
“I always hear you, sweetheart. What is your question today?”
“It isn’t a question, more of a little concern. Since I've finished writing your stories, I feel a sense of emptiness. I don’t know what to do next. Am I experiencing some form of withdrawal?”
“You can call it that. You find yourself in the lee of creation, which is a place of loneliness and confusion.”
“I don’t quite understand.”
“When you started writing our stories, you also started your journey of self-reflection and understanding. Every word you added to your creation gave you the energy to keep moving forward. Now that the story ended, you plunged into a world of muddy gray where you cannot see the markings of your own geography. You feel stuck.”
“You are right. What am I to do?
“This is the lee of creation. It feels bad, but it has its purpose. It allows you to settle and take back ownership of yourself. It will wear out, and you will be able to write again.“
“Why do you say I will take back the ownership of myself? Did I give it away?”
“In a way, you did. When you lived among us, a part of you became us for a while. But we are your creation, not the other way around. You will soon embark on a new journey without feeling guilty for leaving us behind. You wait and see.”
“But I don’t want to lose you.”
“How could you? We are part of you now, and you carry us with you wherever life takes you. I will go back to my world now, sweetheart. And you need to go back to yours, there is life to be lived over there.”
“Will you hear me when I call?”
“I am never far away.”
