Emotional trauma, which manifests as physical illness as the body internalizes grief as a self-preservation tactic, is often long-lasting and has far-reaching consequences for victims. Not only do these victims suffer physical effects, but the psychological effects can negatively impact their relationships with family members, friends, employers, and co-workers. Trauma creates a vicious cycle that often makes it very difficult for victims to build close relationships necessary for healing and support.”
