The Serbian alphabet, or "Azbuka," is a unique feature of the Serbian language, based on the Cyrillic script to fit its phonetic traits.

Developed in the early 19th century by Vuk Stefanović Karadžić, it aimed to reform the language, making it more accessible by aligning written characters with spoken sounds, easing pronunciation and learning. Azbuka consists of 30 letters, with some unique to Serbian.

Today, both Cyrillic and Latin scripts are used in Serbia, with Cyrillic as the official script, reflecting the language's adaptability while preserving its heritage.
