Itinerary
Day 1. Hometown to Beijing (In-flight Meals)
Take overnight flight to Beijing. Enjoy delicious meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment during to journey.
Day 2. Beijing (IM)
Welcome to Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), the 2nd busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic. You will be greeted by our beijing tour guide and transferred to check in at your luxurious hotel where you are at your leisure to relax and enjoy the evening.
Day 3. Beijing/Datong ( Lunch, Dinner)
In the morning, it takes about 4 hours driving from Beijing to Datong. In the afternoon, go to visit the visit the World Heritage Yungang Grottoes, built at 1500 years ago, with its 53 existing rock caves and cover 51,000 statues, Yungang Grottoes is a treasure house of ancient Buddhist art, the largest and best of these kinds in China. And best of all, unlike the others, all the Grottoes are open to public. The long stretch of caves was a masterpiece comparable to the ancient Egyptian pyramids, taking 40,000 workmen many decades (453-493 AD) to finish the majority of construction. You will have Shanxi Noodles as a special dinner. It's a kind of typical northern China food.
Day 4. Mt. Wutai (Lunch, Special Dinner)
Wutai Mountain is a famous scenic spot under national protection. It is famous for its Tibet-like bright blue sky and the breath taking natural beauty -- beautiful surroundings, with trees covering ancient temples and monasteries. The buildings look exceptionally impressive, and the stone carvings are of superb craftsmanship. The painted sculptures are of various shapes and types and no two sculptures are of the same kind. For hundreds of years, Wutai Mountain has been China's most sacred Buddhist ground mainly because it was where the highly revered Manjusri, the Bodhisattva of wisdom, once lived and taught Buddhism. Numerous temples on Wutai Mountain contain many relics and have different features. So today, you will take a whole day to visit Mountain Wutai including Pusading Temple, Xiantong Temple, Wanfo Temple and Tayuan Temple. In the evening, have a special dinner---Mt. Wutai Vegetarian Dinner.
Day 5. Mt. Wutai/Taiyuan ( Lunch, Special Dinner)
In the morning, take 3 hours driving to Taiyuan, the provincial city of Shanxi province. After lunch, you will go to visit Jin ci Temple. It is world-famous because it is an ancient ancestral temple, something which is rare in China. Jinci Temple was, to a certain extent, an imperial garden. Accordingly, some three hundred tablets were inscribed for it with writings by emperors, officials and poets, and these now line a scenic path in the temple. In a certain meaning, the importance of Jinci temple for Taiyuan people is same as Tian'an Men Square in Beijing. In the evening, try delicious Hotpot as dinner.
Day 6. Taiyuan/Pingyao ( Lunch, Dinner)
After breakfast, take 1 hour driving to the UNESCO World Heritage Pingyao Ancient Town. Ping Yao is an exceptionally well-preserved ancient city, founded in the 14th century, and it used to be the major financial centre for the whole of China in the 19th and early 20th centuries. There are still more than 4000 old houses in the city, we will check out the biggest private bank in China, an old county government office courtyard, a live demonstration of local administration procedure, then a pawn shop and an old security company.  Afternoon, go to Family Qiao's Compound where the movie "Raise The Red Lantern" was filmed by Director Zhangyi Mou. Another good part of the old city is the food, so many delicious local cuisines, very different from the popular foods in Beijing, of cause we will try as more as we can.
Day 7. Pingyao/Linfen ( Lunch, Dinner)
In the morning, keep visiting in Pingyao Ancient Town, take a look Rishengchang Exchange shop, the first bank in China. Later we will drive to the largest and best preserved courtyard house-courtyard of Wang family (Wangjia Dayuan), constructed during 1762-1811 by a rich Shanxi merchant family. A huge private palace, built along the slope of the mountain, very good Fengshui. Unlike other famous courtyard house, this one has been kept intact and real, no restoration, no exhibition of unreal folk and custom stuff, wondering in the hundred years old house, listen to the guide elaborating the story of the family. Arriving at Linfen city in the evening.
Day 8. Linfen/Hukou Waterfalls/Yuncheng ( Lunch, Dinner)
Today, you travelling destination is Hukou Waterfalls. It takes 3 hours getting there. Huhou Waterfalls, located at the intersection of Shanxi Province and Shaanxi Province, some 400 kilometers from Xian, is the second largest waterfall in China. It is a great pleasure that a visitors should not miss in the Yellow River Basin. Then, drive to Yuncheng city.
Day 9. Yuncheng/Luoyang ( Lunch, Special Dinner)
After breakfast you will spend 3 hours to the beautiful ancient Luoyang. In the afternoon, we will visit the UNESCO Site-Long men Grottoes in the afternoon, spanning a length of over 1,000 meters on the hillsides along the Yi River, Today, there are still 2345 caves and niches, 100,000 Buddhist images ranging in size from 2 cm to 17.14 meters, it is reputed as the three greatest stone sculpture treasure houses in China. (If groups travel during April to May, it's "Peony Festival", you will go to visit Peony Park instead). After a full day visiting, refresh yourself with famous local "Luoyang Water Banquet". It's the top banquet for VIPs.
