Commemoration of the Day of the African Child 2026

The Day of the African Child is commemorated every year on June 16 to honor the courage and sacrifices of African children who fought for their rights and access to quality education and a better future. This important day also serves as a reminder to governments, organizations, and communities of the need to promote and protect the rights and well-being of every African child.

This year’s theme, “Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa,” highlights the urgent need to provide safe drinking water, proper sanitation, and hygiene facilities for children across the continent. Access to clean water and good hygiene is essential for healthy growth, quality education, disease prevention, and the overall development of every child.

HOBET remains committed to supporting the growth and development of African children by promoting health, education, and community well-being. In line with this year’s theme, we recognize that access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene is a fundamental right that directly impacts children’s health, dignity, and academic success.

Through awareness campaigns, community engagement, and support for child-centered initiatives, HOBETS continues to advocate for safer and healthier environments where children can learn, grow, and thrive. The organization is dedicated to contributing to sustainable solutions that improve the living conditions of children and empower communities across Africa.

As we commemorate the Day of the African Child, let us all renew our commitment to creating a future where every African child has equal access to clean water, sanitation, hygiene, education, and opportunities for a brighter tomorrow. Together, with organizations like HOBETS and the collective efforts of communities and stakeholders, we can build a healthier, safer, and more prosperous Africa for every child.
