Have you ever been faced with the dilemma of no blood for your loved one ? Many can relate to this. Having access to blood at critical moments could make the difference. Blood donation is a major concern to society as there's a shortage of active blood donors to meet the increased blood demand. A safe supply of blood and blood components is essential in a wide range of critical care procedures performed in hospitals. Poor information on the need for more donors, lack of opportunities to donate blood as well as the benefits of donating push many to resist donating blood. Some even fear the process and feel that they will get contaminated in their attempt at serving humanity. NMA invites you to put away fear, ignore the negative vibes and go forth to offer some blood to save that woman who just lost a lot of blood while giving life, or that little boy who just suffered a fracture and what have you? Donating blood decreases the chances of iron overload hence reducing the risks of hemochromatosis, certain cancers, maintaining a healthy heart and liver, and may also offer a weight loss advantage to obese patients. Join us to advocate for more blood donations in our hospitals. It is time to take action and be a saver.
