Bemenda welcomes Fon of Babadjou In A Celebration Of Peace And Brotherhood

The visit of the Paramount Fon of Babadjou, Fo Kaffo Sambankeng Langevin, to Bamenda on Sunday, July 5, 2026, became more than a cultural event. It was a strong symbol of unity and peaceful coexistence between the people of the North West and West regions.

The traditional ruler was warmly received at the esplanade of the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam, where hundreds gathered to welcome him. Among those present were several prominent traditional rulers from the North West, including the Fon of Nkambe, H.R.M Fon Amidu Nji, who is President of the North West House of Chiefs, as well as the Fons of Akum, Mendankwe and Bambili.

Their presence reflected the strong relationship that continues to exist between the two neighbouring regions. Addressing the gathering, Fo Kaffo called on his subjects living in Bamenda to respect the law and contribute to peace and development. He also encouraged young people from both the North West and West regions to stay away from negative behaviours that divide communities and instead become agents of positive change.

The ceremony was filled with colourful traditional dances and cultural performances from both regions, creating an atmosphere of friendship and mutual respect.
As a sign of appreciation, members of both communities presented the Paramount Fon with gifts, thanking him for his visit and his message of unity.

Speaking before his departure, Fo Kaffo expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received. He prayed for lasting peace in the North West, saying that peace remains the key to development, progress and a brighter future for all Cameroonians.
