Ganesh Kumar Sankeethan (24), known as Hiphop Sangee, from Udayanagar West, Kilinochchi, has been arrested by Kilinochchi police under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) after performing songs reflecting the freedom, pain, history, identity, and resilience of the Tamil people.

An artist should not face imprisonment for music, remembrance, or expression. Songs about freedom, pain, history, identity, and resilience are not crimes.

We call for the immediate release of Hiphop Sangee and urge everyone to stand against the suppression of artistic freedom and freedom of expression.
