Celebrating Trailblazer Monica Musonda

This Women's History Month, we honor Monica Musonda, a remarkable entrepreneur, mentor, and advocate shaping Zambia's future.

Monica is the CEO of Java Foods, a Zambian food processing business with the mission of manufacturing high quality and nutritious foods using locally sourced raw materials at affordable prices. By 2025, her vision is to transform the business to be one of the leading packaged food manufacturers in the region.

Her consultancy at Camelot Advisory and board roles at Airtel Networks and Zambian Breweries also showcase her leadership skills. Monica's accolades include the 2017 African Agribusiness Entrepreneur of the Year and recognition as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, among many others!

Through mentoring and public speaking, she inspires women to excel in entrepreneurship and leadership. Monica's dedication to bridging the financing gap for women entrepreneurs exemplifies her commitment to women's empowerment.

This Women's History Month, let's celebrate Monica Musonda's trailblazing journey and the impact she continues to make on women's advancement worldwide!

Between 1914 and 1919; during World War 1, the German imperial powers were on their way to the South of Tanganyika, towards Mbala area. As it being part of the ‘sphere of influence’, the British went ahead and fought against the Germans. Along side, was Lewanika’s son, Mwanawina. 2,000 Barotse troops under the command of then Crown Prince Mwanawina Lewanika helped end WW1 at Abercon (Mbala) in the British Crown Colony of Northern Rhodesia. Further influencing the shape of the map of Zambia to what it is today. Prince Mwanawina was later on in 1953 honoured by the British by Knighting, he became known as Sir Mwanawina.
