Here’s a quick peek at our process to turn the logo into a custom LED Neon sign for ‘s new barber shop 💈

Send us your logo, we’ll send you a mock-up of what it will look like as a LED Neon sign and if you love it (which you obviously will), then we get working on fabricating the sign.

This sign uses a combination of a UV printed logo on the clear acrylic backer with cool white LED Neon accents.

The only thing cleaner than the sign are ‘s fades 💈✂️

kicked-off in style last night with the official launch party !

We ( ) had the pleasure of teaming-up with our talented friends to create a custom cocktail bar at the heart of the party.

Our custom bar this year is our spin in the new brand identity for Design Victoria created by . Much of what we do and is to elevate brands and their branding for events, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to show off what we can do!

Director of Design Victoria said last night that two words sum up ; Community and Creativity. That was definitely on display last night with nine custom designed bars, an outdoor patio space, and art installations throughout the space.

Design Victoria is a four day festival celebrating the city and Vancouver Island’s growing design community.

We started off the festival by taking tour of .ca ‘s new studio space in downtown Victoria.

🔇 Soundproof CNC Enclosure 🔇

Ace Ventura would be proud of how soundproof the enclosure for our is!

Our workshop is in very close proximity to multiple residential units (one beside, one above, and a neighbouring property about 10ft away). Having a soundproof CNC enclosure was a non-negotiable to keep everyone happy.

The key to a great soundproof CNC enclosure is using a combination of absorbitive materials and materials with high density/mass to block out various sound frequencies. The more dense the material, the harder it is for the high pitch sounds from the router to escape. We used three layers of 5/8” Type X drywall on all sides of the enclosure to add mass to the enclosure.

The walls of the enclosure use a decoupled double-wall system to prevent vibrations from the CNC transferring into the workshop. We also used a special acoustic caulk between layers of drywall to absorb vibrations from the CNC.

The walls are filled with mineral wool insulation to absorb the lower sound frequencies.

There is a sealed polythene air barrier on the inside face of the enclosure and sound seals on all doors to prevent airborne sound from escaping.

When the doors are sealed, the sound enclosure reduces the decibel levels coming from the CNC from 90dB (dangerous for hearing), to a pleasant 60dB (standard conversational levels).

This enclosure definitely took some time and money to get right, but our neighbours and our eardrums will thank us in the long run! 👂🏻

Bonus: this keeps all of the dust from the CNC enclosed too, which means less shop cleanup!

Our next update to improve our setup will be to upgrade the Makita router on our to an air-cooled spindle from . Then we’ll barely hear a thing when it’s closed!
