What do traditional Chinese knots and American copper rivets have in common?
Simon examines the Pankou (盘扣) - the traditional Chinese button closure used in high end garments, and how its functional design origins parallel the copper rivets used by traditional American workwear.
Also seen in the video is Simon’s personal Tang Type II Jacket in Sashiko. Currently just a showroom piece, the jacket is inspired by his love of workwear and upbringing in both Vancouver and Shanghai.

Well Worn: Kuzushi Type II Jacket
A look at Simon’s wear test sample of our Kuzushi Type II jacket ahead of its coming release.
Made earlier this year at the early stages of our production process, our founder Simon intentionally put it through extensive wear over 6 months including riding horses through mountains in Northern China, and countless heavy wash and dryer cycles.
Made with woven Sashiko and 100% natural indigo, the true character of our Overdyed Kuzushi styles only reveals itself with time.
