The shortage of skilled labor is a significant concern for the manufacturing industry in Canada. This shortage not only affects the industry's ability to compete globally but also hampers technology adoption and digital transformation. The inability to fill vacant skilled positions is a major obstacle for Canadian manufacturers, and it's even more challenging for small and medium-sized businesses that may lack the financial resources and technical expertise required for emerging technologies.
Will a lack of skilled workers kill manufacturing in Canada? Technology adoption, or the lack thereof, is Canada’s canary in the coal mine. It’s an indicator that something bad is about to happen.
