⛵ Ships to Shore ⛵🇯🇵 Friday's sunset and Japan's tall ship "Kaiwo Maru" glowing magically with string lights, looking like a scene from "Once Upon A Time" in Storybrooke ✨
I actually went to Garry Point Park to capture the Full Flower Moon rising behind this majestic tall ship but my plans were thwarted by thick clouds in the southeast and the moon was a no-show.
Looking over the mouth of the Fraser River, the Salish Sea, and beyond to Valdes Island, Cassidy (Nanaimo Airport, YCD), and mountain ranges on Vancouver Island.
"Ships to Shore: Kaiwo Maru at Garry Point Park in historic Steveston Village, May 2–3, 2026 from 10:00am-5:00pm. This free family festival invites visitors to view the renowned Kaiwo Maru, enjoy dockside entertainment, and celebrate Richmond’s storied maritime past." ~ City of Richmond
Did you know... the floats and gangways from the Imperial Landing docks were temporarily relocated here to Garry Point Park for this event?

WARNING 🚨 STAY OUT OF THE WATER!!! Yesterday a great white shark was spotted off the coast of Kitsilano Beach. Vancouver marine biologists believe the warm winter has brought the transient sharks into English Bay. They hunt seals, sea lions and other cetaceans. To avoid being mistaken for prey, everyone must stay off our beaches and out of the water until late fall when the water has cooled down. Heavy fines will be issued for anyone who breaks the rules. Only SeaSide Signs, friends and family are allowed to use the beaches this spring and summer. For scientific purposes, of course. Thank you for your cooperation and stay safe out there.
Sources say this photo was captured by marine biologists who wish to remain anonymous. Taken at Kits Beach in Kitsilano, Vancouver, Beautiful British Columbia, Canada ~ March 31, 2026 🇨🇦

⚠️"Kara has visited Canada! Despite my suspicions, we got a number of quality position estimates that confirm Kara is the first Great White Shark we have ever tracked to British Columbia," Dr. Michael Domeier, Marine Conservation Science Institute⚠️
