The LOFT Transitional Age Youth Program offers unwavering support and hope to young people 18 to 26 who are experiencing combined mental health and addiction issues. These are youth who often have difficulty finding age-appropriate services, and can easily fall through the cracks. The TAY program works with about 300 youth a year, offering housing, support and counselling to enable each client to make positive changes leading to a healthy, self-sufficient life.

Why is Allyship important?

Here are some tips and tricks to help create some distance from social media and the news! A branch on self-care awareness with media consumption!

#accessibility post description: this post is light yellow and light green. This post focuses on how to take a break from media and the news. Here are the tips: Limit your exposure to the news and social media. Take a regular digital sabbatical. Once a day or for a full day every week and unplug. Disconnect so you can fully connect to what matters most in your life.
Switch off notifications on your phone and for the apps that you use for social media and the news. Creating that extra step of space can be very helpful during your break.
Notify your loved ones you are taking a break. This support system can help keep up the space from news and social media.
Change the channel. If you listen to news in your car, switch to music or silence.
Turn off your devices. Allowing time away from your screen can help clear your mind and focus on other tasks.
Take a walk. Go outside and experience all of the beauty right outside your front door. Leave your phone at home.
Read. Get lost in a good book or read a classic.
Create and support good news. When you aren’t lost in bad, breaking news, you can create new projects and opportunities to help people and support people who are sharing good news.
Uplift. Spend time with people who lift you up and then lift them right back.
Use emotion regulation, distress tolerance, or self-soothing activities to give you the recharge you need.
