Construction and renovation projects in healthcare facilities demand more than timelines and budgets, they require a commitment to patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory excellence.

From containment strategies and air quality management to dust control and traffic flow planning, every phase of construction in healthcare environments must align with Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) best practices & Canadian Standards Association (CSA) requirements. Proper risk assessments and mitigation measures help protect patients, residents, staff, and visitors throughout the project lifecycle.

Connect with our team to ensure your next project is executed safely, efficiently and with full IPAC and CSA compliance.

Emergency Preparedness Week is a reminder that readiness isn’t just about large-scale crises, it’s also about the everyday systems and habits that keep people safe, both at work and at home.

Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) plays a critical role in emergency preparedness. Whether facing an outbreak, or an unexpected public health threat, strong IPAC practices help organizations respond quickly, protect staff and patients, and limit the spread of infections.

Preparedness in the workplace means:
• Having clear protocols that can scale during a crisis
• Ensuring staff are trained and confident in IPAC measures
• Maintaining adequate supplies of PPE and hygiene resources
• Embedding infection control into every level of planning

But preparedness doesn’t stop at work. Preparedness is at home, too.
• Keep basic supplies on hand (hand sanitizer, disinfectants, masks if needed)
• Stay up to date with vaccinations and public health guidance
• Practice everyday habits like hand hygiene and staying home when sick
• Have a simple plan for how your household would manage during an outbreak or disruption

The past few years have shown that emergencies don’t always come with warning. Integrating IPAC into both organizational planning and personal routines strengthens resilience and helps communities respond with confidence when it matters most.

This week, take a moment to review both your own and your organization’s readiness. Preparedness is a shared responsibility.
