Why is it so difficult to really experience joy?

Because we're always afraid it's going to end.

That something bad is going to happen to "make up for" the joy we're feeling.

That this good feeling will give way to those bad feelings.

So we walk around in a state of "foreboding joy," which means we never truly embrace joy when it shows up.

It's like giving a good friend a nod instead of a hug.

When we go through life suppressing the emotions we don't want to feel...

We reduce our capacity to experience the emotions we DO want to feel.

Read that again.

When I work with men who feel disoriented or disinterested in their lives, it's usually because they've lost focus on what's important to them.

They're disoriented because they've lost their direction, and instead focused on Protecting & Providing for everyone else. And they're disinterested because they feel overwhelmed by their responsibilities.

They find themselves on a daily Treadmill of work and family duties, with no end in sight.

What they really want is to be on a Trail that leads to somewhere interesting, so they know their life has meaning beyond putting food on the table.

If you're feeling like life is more of an obstacle course than a meaningful adventure, it doesn't have to be that way. All you need is a few key skills to help you navigate the journey.

Jump on my free workshop called "Treadmill to Trail: 5 Essential Survival Skills for Men in Modern Times."

You'll come away with clarity on where you are and where you want to be. I'll help you develop a clear vision of what future that looks like. And you'll connect with a group of like-minded men who get it.

If all that's worth an hour of your time, then save your spot by clicking on the link in the top comment.

What's the difference between happiness and joy?

It's Gratitude.

Happiness says, "Things are pretty great right now."

Joy says, "I'm so effing grateful to be here in this moment right now."

Practice gratitude. Find joy.
