Sea turtles have been swimming our oceans for millions of years, playing a vital role in keeping marine ecosystems healthy—from maintaining seagrass beds to supporting vibrant coral reefs. But today, their survival depends on the health of our oceans.
Pollution, plastic waste, habitat loss, climate change, and illegal wildlife trade are placing immense pressure on turtle populations. Rising temperatures are affecting nesting patterns, while plastic-filled waters pose serious risks through ingestion and entanglement.
Protecting our oceans is key to helping sea turtles thrive. By reducing single-use plastics, supporting conservation efforts, participating in beach cleanups, and making more sustainable everyday choices, we can all be part of the solution. Charities like The Canadian Sea Turtle Network and Turtle Survival Alliance are supporting healthy oceans and protecting turtle populations through conservation and education.
Healthy oceans mean a future where sea turtles can continue to swim, nest, and thrive for generations to come. When we protect our oceans, we are not only protecting sea turtles, but also countless other species that depend on these waters to survive.

Lupus is a chronic disease affecting 1 in 1,000 Canadians - yet its exact cause remains unknown, and there’s still no cure. Often misunderstood and invisible, it has a constant impact.
Today, World Lupus Day also falls on Mother's Day. We want to recognize and honour the mothers and caregivers living with lupus - the ones who show up with love and resilience, even on the hardest days.
Behind the diagnoses are stories of perseverance: managing symptoms, navigating uncertainty, and still being there for their families in countless ways. Here's the story of Carolina, a mother who shows incredible strength every day https://www.lupuscanada.org/mothers-lupus-story-carolina/.
This World Lupus Day and all month long, we urge you to come together to raise awareness and educate. You can make a difference by wearing purple, sharing your story, and supporting lupus research. Visit Lupus Canada to learn more.
