A very special morning with a very special tasting of two Barolo wines from
Although these wines were made in the same style and same 2015 vintage, the second wine is a Grand Cru from a particular special land near the Barolo village in Italy.
Barolo #1 presented violets, roses and red fruits such as ripe raspberries, red currents and opened up to strawberries on the nose. Stewed cherries livened up the palate and dried fruits came into play over time in the glass.
Barolo #2 had less floral notes at first but more spice such as cloves on the nose initially. Tart cherries were the main fruit on the palate. Eventually floral notes such as orange blossoms, lilies and a subtle rose came through. Dried apricots, dates and raisins became the focus on the palate.
Both of these wines had a beautiful garnet colour although the first wine was darker ion colour. These wines both exhibited firm Barolo tannins which will definitely soften over time and age beautifully. I hope to try them in a couple of years.

Having a sour moment with Paradise Lost Spiced Cherry. Hazy and pretty in pink like a ruby red grapefruit. Red ripe raspberries and tart cherries on the nose with a hint of vanilla. Grapefruit and more tart cherries on the palate. Spicy finish. Pucker up. 💋💋💋
