Chana Rothman Music

to Philly, and giving birth to her first child, Chana realized how vital it was to be a part of her local arts scene. In keeping with that realization, Chana decided to release her latest CD, Beautiul Land, produced by Grammy-award-winning C Lanzbom (Pete Seeger, Soulfarm), in her own neighborhood of Mount Airy, Philadelphia. Envisioning an event that served many age groups, she curated a family friendly show and an evening set, both of which sold out and were covered by Phildelphia's public network, WHYY. She is commissioned each year by the Foundation for Jewish Camp to write a song that reflects positive role modeling and is sung communally at summer camps throughout Canada and the United States. These songs are bilingual/bicultural and speak to the hunger for meaningful lyrics as young people build their sense of identity. Songleading has profoundly influenced Chana's unique interactive and down-to-earth performance style. Most recently, Chana was selected as an Emerging Artist Showcase performer at Mini-NERFA 2012 in Maryland and a finalist in the 2012 Telluride Bluegrass Festival's Troubour Competition. She has appeared twice on John Platt's On Your Radar series, once live on WFUV'S beloved Sunday Breakfast and has begun curating a series of folk music concerts in the round with recent guests Shawn Taylor and Jory Nash.
