A Soundportrait is an audio recording of stories – a personal memoir, carefully edited and reproduced on a beautiful CD or series of CDs, or preserved on a silver USB key. In this Soundportrait profile of a man who grew up in Toronto, he talks of raising four boys, great years at a cottage, and has some advice for growing older, with vigour: “I loved work, and I advise people coming into their mid-sixties, if you don’t have to quit, keep working. As long as you can, keep your head going. Otherwise, you just fade and become very boring!”
You know how a scent or aroma will often remind us of an experience in our past? I just heard a story from someone who remembers the joys of riding a farmer's wagon when she was a little girl. The wagon carried "wet garbage" from a boarding school to the farm for the animals to enjoy. To this day, the smell of wet garbage brings a smile to this woman's face!
