ContaQt
"... methodical and mesmerizing..." ContaQt combines 21st Century classical/experimental music with the sensibilities of rock and jazz to form a hybrid chamber ensemble that defies genres. Praised by the Globe and Mail as “thought-provoking” and “highly entertaining”, and by the New York Times as "mesmerizing" ContaQt has premiered works by emerging and established Canadian and international composers and has performed at venues and new music festivals around the world.

Out now! “Root Blood,” the final release in this cycle’s Virtual ContaQt series! It’s fitting that the series culminates by featuring composer and performer Tina Pearson , a longtime collaborator of the group and pioneer in the world of online and telematic performance. Tina has worked with ContaQt since even before the early days of the group’s virtual experimentations, and the resulting work is deeply intimate despite the vast physical distances among the players.
Live Mixing and Video for “Root Blood” was once again handled by the group’s longtime tech collaborator Jeffrey David Morton , with additional mastering by Andrew Noseworthy
Special thanks again to Canada Council for the Arts and Toronto Arts Council for their funding support of the Virtual ContaQt project!
