Printed with three perimeters to last.
I had initially played around with trying to make these cans as lightweight as possible, saving material and print time. However, printing with a single layer tended to leave the cans feeling less than robust and more prone to print issues, and subsequently small leaks. Printing with three perimeters means that they feel better, last longer, and do their job without any pinhole leaks!

The coloured Pinch watering cans are made in PLA (polylactic acid), which is a plant based plastic. It is a great option for having a variety of colours, easy printing, and for minimizing petroleum input. It's technically compostable, but unfortunately requires specialized facilities to properly break down, in other words it won't disappear in your backyard composter.
For the white cans, I'm working on using HDPE (high density poly ethelene). Although it's a petroleum product, it's also one of the most commonly recyclable plastics in the world. That means when it's no longer needed for hydrating plants it can easily be added back into material streams!
