If you want to talk with your Dentist about an oral appliance for OSA, make sure to ask about the ones available in their clinic. Not all oral devices are equal. Many are made of hard acrylic and use metal bars to hold your jaw in place. These kinds need extra tools to adjust like keys, screws, bolts or screwdrivers. Some also keep your mouth in a closed position to force nose breathing. If you have a cold, allergies or any temporary nasal congestion, a closed jaw position might make breathing difficult.
