Thanks to your support we have been able to make WAVES against the deregulation of Acu & TCM in Ontario! Bill 88 will now be reviewed by the Social Policy Committee. This is great, but we must keep fighting until Section 5 is REMOVED from Bill 88!
WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP! We must keep the pressure on the Ford government to protect the health & safety of Ontarians. WAVES are great, but we need to FLOOD our MPPs and Ford with our concerns over Section 5 of this bill!
Deregulation of Acu & TCM would push the status of our profession back 30 years. It would negatively impact the health & safety of patients and reduce the accessibility, affordability, and quality of TCM & Acupuncture in Ontario. Not only would this bill be detrimental for THOUSANDS of small businesses in Ontario, but Acupuncture would lose its HST-exemption status across Canada.

On Monday night, my colleagues and I were devastated to learn that the ON gov't had already introduced a bill that will de-regulate Acupuncture & traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in Ontario without consulting, or even notifying, our profession or clearly informing the public!!!

Under Bill 88, Section 5, Acupuncture & TCM would no longer be regulated and would not be considered healthcare services. Anyone could perform acupuncture and prescribe Chinese medicinal herbs!
Acupuncturists and TCM practitioners would no longer be required to obtain a license to practice; prove their education, knowledge or skill; follow clean needle techniques and other safe practices; or uphold the standards of our profession.

Bill 88, Section 5 is definitely NOT the in the best interest of our patients, the people of Ontario, or our profession! Ontarians deserve better!

We want our profession to be inclusive, regulated, safe, and effective. Bill 88, Section 5 will not achieve this!

Please help us protect YOU by opposing Bill 88, Section 5 and keeping Acupuncture and TCM regulated in Ontario.
