Ever notice how your Bernedoodle stares, studies, and analyzes every movement on walks? 👀
That’s not stubbornness — it’s instinct.
Dogs follow what’s called the predatory sequence — a natural pattern from noticing → stalking → chasing → catching → relaxing.
Bernedoodles, like Bernie, often get “stuck” in the early stages — noticing and assessing everything — which can look like reactivity or overexcitement.
The key? Don’t fight it. Satisfy it.
💨 Sniff walks
🌲 Decompression hikes
🦴 Lick mats and chews
These meet their instinctual needs and help them finally rest easy.
What kind of dog do you have — and which part of the sequence do you see most? Let’s find calm by working with their instincts, not against them. 💛

🍎🐾 Fall is the perfect time to work on your pup’s loose-leash walking, calm greetings, and focus skills—and what better classroom than an apple orchard?
Dog-friendly farms across Ontario welcome pups (on leash), making apple picking a fun way to combine training, socialization, and seasonal adventures.
👉 Training reminders while you pick:
✨ Practice polite walking through distractions (kids, wagons, food smells)
✨ Reinforce “leave it” around fallen apples and cores
✨ Build confidence with calm downtime in a new, stimulating environment
✨ Reward your dog for checking in with you amidst all the action
Here are a few Ontario orchards that welcome dogs: confirm before you go.

Dog parkour isn’t just a trick — it’s confidence, coordination, and fun all rolled into one.
Here’s how to get started:
1. Find a safe, low, wide surface such as a rock, bench, or log.
2. Use a treat to guide your dog’s paws up. Mark and reward success.
3. Build gradually: 2 paws → 4 paws → sit or stand → hop off.
4. Keep it safe and positive — avoid slippery or unstable surfaces, and always let your dog choose.
Everyday walks can become mini-adventures that strengthen your bond and boost your dog’s confidence.
