How’s your digital addiction going? Do you find your power for sustained reading diminished, that you spend less time in direct contact with other humans, that you’d rather text someone than call them, that you are glued to your phone first thing in the morning and last thing at night? In this video lesson, we encounter Captain Beatty as he reveals his secret historical knowledge about the conditions of society that led to the dystopian world in which Montag finds himself. What were the underlying problems and systemic issues that gave birth to their dystopian reality?
