Ketogenic Diet
- A diet that is based on restricted carbs
- Only allowed about 20-50g of carbs a day which is about 5-10%
- The remaining calories are divided between Fat and Protein, 70-80% and 10-20% respectively
- Protein increases and fat reduces for the diet if you exercise more to retain muscle mass during the diet
- If done correctly you will enter ketosis which is a metabolic process when the body is absent of carbohydrates
- The liver metabolizes fatty acids to make ketones which it uses as a replacement energy source
- This process leads to significant decrease in weight loss (body fat) and a reduced BMI due to reduction of fat mass
