for you.
Did you know your air filter is directional? It must be installed the correct way to work effectively - with the little arrow on the side of the filter pointing towards the furnace.
The purpose of your filter is two-fold:
1. To filter out dust, debris, and some other small airborne particles to keep the in your home fresh (NO they cannot filter out particles) and,
2. To ensure the inside of your furnace and under your evaporator coil (for your air conditioner) do not get dusty or clogged.
If your evaporator coil gets clogged underneath, your furnace will overheat and shutdown repeatedly. This will jeopardize the and of your HVAC system. Not to mention, your home will not warm up properly either.
If the filter is installed backwards, small particles are more easily passed through the filter. Although it may seem that filters are the same on both sides, most are not, one side is more porous.
Some filters also have a ‘filter support’ such as a wire or paper mesh on one side. These mesh maintain the shape of the filter and also prevent the filter from being sucked into the blower motor - they are there for structural support and are generally positioned on the side closest to the furnace.

for you.
It’s important to have a correctly sized furnace for your home. In this case, bigger is not always better.
An oversized furnace for your home operates inefficiently because your space will heat up too quickly. Not only will this be uncomfortable for you, but before the furnace has had time to cool down for its next cycle, your thermostat will kick back on and your furnace will begin heating your home again. This frequent on/off is called Short Cycling and it will:
1. Increase your gas and energy bill and,
2. Reduce the operational lifetime of your furnace.
An undersized furnace on the other hand will take too long to heat your home and will run for a much longer time than required. Once again, this will increase your monthly energy bills and the wear on your equipment.
Several factors influence the correct furnace size for your home including, your home's square-footage, number of floors, and duct sizing.
To ensure you purchase a properly sized furnace that will operate efficiently and actually save you money on your energy bills, consult a certified and trusted HVAC contractor in your area.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
