I was writing my newsletter tonight and ended up deep in thought about the power of words... here is what I ended up writing:
"There is a tremendous power in words.
They shape how we see the world…
…and how we act in it.
Take this one sentence:
“Life on Earth.”
Do we live on Earth?
Do we live off the land?
These words imply separation.
They plant a lie we then live.
But here is the truth -
From dust to dust,
From soil to food and back to soil again,
We are part of a constantly reforming whole.
We know the truth of oneness.
We feel it in our bones.
We read it in textbooks.
Whether it’s the Big Bang from Einstein,
Or the Big Crunch from Hawking-
Matter cannot be created or destroyed.
We are not born into this world.
We are born out of it.
Like leaves from a tree.
Like waves from the ocean. (Watts)
But if the story we tell is linear…
If we believe all of creation led to us,
That we are the center…
That we are not the land, and the land is not us…
Then we separate ourselves from the eco-sphere,
And find ourselves lost in the ego-sphere.
Yes, there is tremendous power in words.
They shape how we see the world…
…and how we act in it.
Welcome to Life WITH Earth. 🌱
Let’s learn."
