Every week, Government of Saskatchewan brings together hundreds of updates from farmers and field reporters into a provincial snapshot of crop conditions: "The Saskatchewan Crop Report".

Farmers rely on it to time their operations, industry to forecast production, insurers to monitor drought risk, and government to validate crop estimates at the national level. (and that's just the surface)

Over time, as most systems do, the process became fragmented. Submissions arrived in both print and digital formats, and administrators were manually consolidating everything before each weekly release. Once published, most of the data lived in static PDFs, with limited ability to compare historical and real-time data.

We reengineered the entire Crop Report Solution around three priorities:

› Structured online surveys to replace manual submissions
› Built-in automation, data weighting, and integration to reduce manual handling
› Interactive dashboards to make the data easier to access, compare and explore

Right out of the gates, admin labour dropped by 70 percent, and more than 200 crop reporters now submit directly from, well, wherever they want.
