There is no universal number of passes across one stroke, it depends on a range of factors such as thickness of skin, how oily the skin is, the pressure applied, skin moisture, etc. For ageing and thinner skin sometimes it is enough to make only 2-3 passes across the same stroke. And for thicker and oily skin, it can take as many as 10 passes.
