Nice to celebrate a birthday with Andrea Seepersaud at The Shish Mahal Indian Cuisine restaurant. They did a great job staying open with takeout through the COVID-19 years. Now, it is nice to go back in person to have the great north Indian cuisine we have enjoyed for years. In this era of food inflation, the Shish Mahal prices remain moderate compared to other restaurants we have begun to visit again. It's a gem in Erin Mills.

It was nice to get back to the Shaw Festival for the first time since 2019. The first production of the 2020s that Andrea Seepersaud and I enjoyed was , a musical at the Festival Theatre about the show biz career of Gypsy Rose Lee, the American burlesque legend of the mid-20th century. I didn't know much about the underlying story, though the play prompted me to look it up. It was a solid, three-hour performance, well acted and produced. We had first-row balcony seats, right in the centre of the theater, literally the two best seats in the house.
