ISLAS BRANDING EVOLUTION/NEW LOGO + SLOGAN

l o g o : our new logo symbolizes the “rising” of the to the world just as the sun rises from the . Influenced by the sea, sunsets, , various styles, , ; it reafirm our purpose to take “Cuban culture on the rise.”

c o l o r s : from B&W we added colors to express , inclusion, dynamism and relevance to the different cultural projects that trust and collaborate with us. Colors are also a nod to our ability to adapt to each project according to their essence and distinction.

t y p o : lowercase letters, simple typography, evoking horizontality, closeness and clarity in the communication of ISLAS with its audience.

s h a p e s : the ellipses add flexibility, empathy. Overlapping three independent shapes, it gives shape to something bigger, stronger, inclusive when put together; an interaction without losing the essence that distinguishes each independent shape.

s l o g a n : “Cuban culture on the rise” is our way to affirm the mission of ISLAS when supporting and enriching and the artistic communities that represent it or connect to it all over the world; to promote them, make them visible.

r e f e r e n c e s : design from an iconic period (60-70's) and visual identity applied during the Montreal-Havana , which ISLAS had initially coordinated.

XIMENA H.- Founder & Artists Programming

Born from a chilean family, raised in Montreal and currently dividing her life and work with Cuba, Ximena Holuigue has worked for over a decade in the cultural sector at the intersection of art, music and new media industries.

Having taken various roles from artistic producer, content creator, curator and cultural facilitator, she’s organized various projects ranging from Cuban international initiatives like exhibitions, artists exchanges, as well as film productions, music tours, business and government affairs in Cuba and in Latin America.

Ximena founded ISLAS with the desire to pursue her vision in connecting creative communities. Together along ISLAS team, she foresees artistic management, fostering a deeper understanding of Cuba today through culture and unique experiences.

De origen chilena, criada en Montreal y actualmente dedicando su vida y su trabajo a Cuba, Ximena Holuigue ha trabajado durante más de una década en el sector cultural para la intersección de las industrias del arte, la música y los nuevos medios.

Con experiencia en roles como productora artística, creadora de contenido, curadora y facilitadora cultural; ha organizado múltiples proyectos de iniciativas cubanas internacionales como exposiciones, intercambios y residencias de artistas, producciones cinematográficas, giras musicales, negocios y asuntos gubernamentales con Cuba y en América Latina .

Ximena fundó ISLAS con el deseo de lograr su visión de conectar comunidades creativas. Junto al equipo de ISLAS, prevé una gestión artística, fomentando un conocimiento más profundo de Cuba hoy a través de la cultura y de experiencias de intercambio únicas.

PATRICIA G.- Digital Marketing & Social Media

Passionate about teamwork, creativity, dynamism and laughter; to her, such an environment is the perfect one for best ideas to emerge!

After graduated in Social Communication at the University of Havana, followed by a Master in Marketing at the University of Alicante (Spain), ISLAS came to her at the right moment with a composition of the best ingredients: friend connections, a desire to be part of an artistic community disseminated around the world and the possibility to put in practice her Digital Marketing skills.

Fully linked to the Marketing perspective, a sector in constant evolution and increasingly indispensable, she considers herself an eternal communicator who will always have something to say and luckily today, taking advantage of Social Media, it will be said on behalf of ISLAS.

Apasionada del trabajo en equipo, la creatividad, el dinamismo y las buenas risas; para Patricia ese es el entorno perfecto en que surgen las mejores ideas.

Después de graduarse de Comunicación Social en la Universidad de la Habana (2014) y más tarde, de la Maestría en Marketing en la UA - Universitat d'Alacant / Universidad de Alicante (España, 2017); ISLAS llega a ella en el momento adecuado combinando los mejores ingredientes: amigas, el deseo de ser parte de una comunidad artística esparcida por todo el mundo y la posibilidad de poner en práctica sus habilidades en Marketing Digital.

Plenamente orientada al Marketing, un sector en constante evolución y cada vez más indispensable, Patricia se considera una eterna comunicadora que siempre tendrá algo que decir y que por suerte hoy y desde su gestión en las Redes Sociales, podrá expresarse también en nombre de ISLAS.

Former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau’s historic visit to Cuba in 1976 was the first visit to Cuba by a Western leader since 1960. Justin Trudeau, current Prime Minister , revisited Cuba in 2016, where ISLAS Founder had the opportunity to meet and greet as well as having the opportunity to maintain both countries diplomatic ties since then. As this year marks the 75st anniversary of diplomatic relations among both countries, we are eager to see what the future holds for upcoming joint alliances.

Relaciones diplomáticas culturales Canadá-Cuba.

La histórica visita del Ex-Primer Ministro Pierre Trudeau a Cuba en 1976 fue la primera visita a Cuba de un líder occidental desde 1960. Justin Trudeau, actual Primer Ministro, volvió a visitar Cuba en 2016, donde la fundadora de ISLAS tuvo la oportunidad de conocerlo y saludarlo. Dado que este año marca el 75 aniversario de las relaciones diplomáticas entre ambos países, estamos ansiosos por ver qué depara el futuro para las próximas alianzas conjuntas.

In 2018, ISLAS met up in L.A with MakeWild, an amazing film/adventure production initiative composed of 3 close friends/surfers/adventurers seeking one simple goal: to tell meaningful stories and live lives of adventure with the people they love. Through their love and passion for surf, they worked on a book/short film The Cuba Unknown,  followed by Surf Libre,  a documentary feature film shot over the past four years that shares a transformational period in Cuba’s history and follows the fight to legitimize surfing in the country. It will be released in 2021.

ISLAS is grateful to have collaborated with MakeWild, sharing common views about pura vida and we send our deepest love and support to our surfing community friends  in Cuba !

En 2018, ISLAS se reunió en L.A con MakeWild, una increíble iniciativa de producción de películas / aventuras compuesta por 3 amigos cercanos / surfistas / aventureros que persiguen un objetivo simple: contar historias significativas y vivir aventuras con las personas que aman. A través de su amor y pasión por el surf, trabajaron en un libro / cortometraje The Cuba Unknown, seguido de Surf Libre, un largometraje documental filmado durante los últimos cuatro años que comparte un período de transformación en la historia de Cuba y sigue la lucha por legitimar el surf. en el país. Se lanzará en 2021. ISLAS está agradecida de haber colaborado con MakeWild, compartiendo puntos de vista comunes sobre pura vida y enviamos nuestro más profundo amor y apoyo a nuestros amigos de la comunidad de surf en Cuba.
