Working in the water is a practice of Pratyahara for those of you in the yoga world. Amongst its other benefits, it’s a unique chance to turn inward without having to process the stimuli coming in through all our senses. The only sound is a heartbeat (or two) and breath. It’s a welcome shift you never even knew you needed!!

To my fellow West Islanders
as you move through the coming days, weeks and months after flooding
keep these 4 things in mind:

As you move through the coming days, weeks and months, keep these 4 things in mind:

✅pace yourself

- it doesn't all have to be done at once
- you don’t have to match anyone else’s speed or timeline
- 'take a break before you ache', take breaks before you need them, I can't highlight this one enough

✅co-regulation
even the smallest tasks getting taken off your list can help
- Let others help, sit with you, or take a task off your plate.
- Let people show up for you.
- Ask for help.

✅micro-moments
Find tiny moments for yourself, sprinkled throughout the day. It doesn't need to be much and it doesn't need to be fancy.

- a moment to enjoy a cool drink
- some fresh air
- a song you love
- a movie that makes you laugh
- movement that feels good

✅nourish yourself
It's easier to order in and eat on the fly when managing so many tasks. But food and sleep are the fuel that keep you able to move forward.

- order in but make it a nourishing choice
- accepts meals from those offering
- snack on natural, unprocessed foods when possible

These tiny anchors add up and cumulatively make a big difference.
What's happened is a big deal. If your body or mind is struggling is so normal and makes you a human navigating a very difficult situation along with a whole bunch of other humans facing the same.

Be kind to yourself.
Tackle one task at a time.

And if you have one minute,

Yesterday we said goodbye to our beautiful boy Max. 🐾 💔

It’s crazy how empty and still it feels in the house without him here.

Max thank you for being our fiercest protector and our most loving companion all at the same time.

You made us smile and laugh every day and filled our lives with so much love. Your life wasn’t about treats it was about family and you made us feel unbelievably special every moment of every single day.

We feel so lucky that we found each other when you were 6 yrs old! We chose each other in the first 10 seconds of meeting each other. I’ll never forget the way you leaned into me as though so say ‘I belong with you ’ and the way you held my hand the whole drive home.

8 years together was not enough but we’re so grateful we had that time.

Give Jazzy and Kasey a snuggle from us! We know you’re already having fun together exploring the woods and chasing balls. 🐾🌈 🐾
