Fran Rogers is a member of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation and the founder of The Bead Lodge in Grande Prairie, Alberta. In this video, she shares how selling beads from her basement grew through markets, powwows, and the Fire Circle program into a 3,000 sq ft retail space carrying authentic beadwork, moccasins, textiles, and artwork by local Indigenous makers. Guided by matriarchal teachings, Fran built more than a store: a welcoming hub where women, youth, and emerging artists can see there is space for them.

Dolly Kruger is a member of the snpinkʷtn Penticton Indian Band and the founder of SilverSky Cradle & Casket in the South Okanagan, British Columbia. In this video, she shares how training as one of the only women in carpentry school, and the loss of her eldest son in 2011, led her to hand-build sacred, culturally relevant caskets, urns, and newborn cradle boards for Indigenous families. "If you tell me I can't do it, I'll find a way to do it" — Dolly's vision is to grow, employ Indigenous people, and mentor the youth watching her lead.
